During one of our visits within the rural community just outside of Bukoba, hiking deep in the thick of beautiful banana & coffee farms, we said hello (Habari Gani) to this little girl along the path. She appeared to be working the ‘fields’ (not in school), very poor and carrying an infant on her back. These sights are poignant reminders to us to continue working towards ensuring all children have access to education. It also reminds us of the importance of working towards eliminating social & economic barriers that cause families to require their children to labor in order to ensure their livelihood. I believe all parents want what is best for their children, even if what is best seems unattainable or full of overwhelming challenges. We need to work towards removing these obstacles and ensuring they have options to provide for the health, well being and future of their children!
